A new song is up!

Gravelly Hill Interchange

We have been doing a bit of driving this week, and have caught a couple of episodes of a show about motorways, so we decided it was time to pay tribute to the concrete and tarmac. You can listen to our songs here and vote for which one like best…

My favourite thing I did this week!

This week I started a job and it made me grow sentimental about the weekend, so here is a song about hanging out with my wonderful friend in London. Listen and vote here: http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

Songs About a Certain Time of Day

So this week, we wrote about times of day…I wrote about a jilted lover at dawn and Vlad the Lad wrote about sleeping. Have a listen, and we’d love to hear your suggestions for other song themes!

A song about the Fall of Man/the Garden of Eden

We’re back on the Bible this week, with two songs inspired by Gabe’s suggestion of The Fall of Man as a theme. We both tried to turn it on it’s head a bit, and mine became a sort of pro-Eve gospel song. More than ever, we would love some more suggestions, you can give us anything and we’ll try it out! A Song About… a Book I’ve Been Reading

This week our challenge was to write about what we’ve been reading and, in my case, it happened to be the collection of short stories, Naked, by David Sedaris. I chose a chapter about his hitch-hiking trip up to Oregon to pick apples, first with his friend and, the next year, on his own, when he finds it isn’t quite as charming and rustic as he remembered. It’s a pretty funny narrative, but somehow when I wrote the song it dipped into the sadness that runs underneath the humour. Thanks to Mr. Sedaris for providing a plot I could ape, and happy listening-we appreciate it!

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (The Musical)

For this week’s Song Assignment, my very own sister gave us the theme “Futuristic Sci-fi Dystopia” – a perfect excuse to play with the midi keyboard and my childhood companion, “Speak & Music”, which I used for underlying spaceship background noises. It was lots of fun-making music with old toys should be a genre all to itself. We would love it if you had a listen to our songs and let us know what you think! http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

Bible Study-Song Assignment No.20

This week we had to open the Bible without looking and write about whatever we found on the page. I got to a juicy story about King David and his dysfunctional, incestuous family, which I was pretty happy with actually. You can listen to our efforts here: http://songassignment.wordpress.com/
