I am very excited to say that I have an EP recorded, packaged and ready to go! You can listen to and download We Came in from the Sea here and on Bandcamp and there are a limited number of CDs for sale, which feature Dave Millar’s photography in the artwork. Please have a listen and let me know what you think!

Songs About Walking: SA No. 19

Here are a couple of songs about one of our favourite things to do-especially when it’s warm and sunny and you have to trudge up a massive hill or force yourself into a freezing pool of mountain run-off water at the end of it! Dave and I did a lot of walking while we were away these past two weeks, so it seemed the natural choice of subject. As always, we’re also on the lookout for new and challenging topics, and we’d love it if you let us know what you think. Have you ever written a song about walking? http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

Belated Song Assignment: from a little town in Andalucia

This week we wrote about the town where we are staying. I decided the best approach was to lie in the sun, close my eyes and wait for inspiration-I ended up just writing a list of the sounds I could hear from the village. We would love it if you listened to both our songs and please let us know if you can think of another song assignment subject…

A Smelly Song Assignment

This week, one of Dave’s friends, Rich, challenged us to tackle that most controversial theme, Poo. I never thought I’d write a song based on that subject, but both of us have raised it from the gutter to make a tuneful plea for its inner beauty. We are in Spain at the moment, distracted by the sun and the swallows and swifts, which you can hear in the background of our recordings. We’d love it if you dipped in to our latest songs and voted for your favourite. http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

The Rain in Spain…

This week the pitter-patter, or rushing torrent, of rain upon our rooftops has inspired two songs in its honour. We may not like it much, but it makes the gardens grow, and it does give you license to stay inside without feeling like you’re missing out on anything. Please give our efforts a listen and let us know what you think. As ever, the link is: http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

Two Songs About Shoeboxes

These weeks seem to be flying by! The latest Song Assignment is up and ready for your ears: http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

Please listen and let us know what you think.

Thanks!

This Week’s Theme: Dogs

We’re not really sure why, but somehow we ended up writing about dogs this time-I think it was Dave’s idea. Anyhow, you can listen to them both at http://songassignment.wordpress.com/ and tell us who’s got the best bark. And we’d love it if you dropped us an idea for our next assignments!

Sweets for My Sweet

This week we’ve written about candy-so you can get over your Easter chocolate hangover to the sweeeeet sounds of our favourite edible delights. Many thanks to special guest Little Pebble who came up with the idea and has joined in for this one: http://songassignment.wordpress.com/

SA No. 11-Cover the Song That Was No. 1 on the Day You Were Born

This was a very difficult one for me, as I felt I couldn’t possibly do justice to Spandau Ballet’s original “True”. I did my best and tried to stay with the 80s synth vibe, but discovered there’s no way I can sing like Tony Hadley. If you follow the link, you can listen to my effort and also DM’s “Bright Eyes” by Art Garfunkel. Who knew that we were born with such classics playing in the background?
